ZIF Hard drives (Zero Insertion Force) are small 1.8" hard drives that are commonly found in digital hard drive camcorders, micro usb external hard drives or the popular iPod and iPhone. This style of hard drive uses a very fine ribbon cable for connection and even though it is very small it uses similar components of a traditional hard drive.
